Mission Models Ltd is a leading modelling agency with an international reputation in the industry for quality and professionalism. Mission Models is based in Chelsea, London. Robert Barbieri, who runs the agency, tells us more about what the agency look for in aspiring models... How do you see your role as an agency? Mission Models Ltd sees its role as an agent to look after the well being of our models on paid or non-paid assignments. It is an agent's role to ensure the needs of our clients are met by our models and we feel it is also important to give guidance to our models and advise them of the best options for career progression What do you enjoy most about running an agency? Meeting creative, vibrant, talented people What types of jobs have been offered to your models? We at Mission Models have a wide range of clients, we have offered our models paid bookings for TV car adverts, fashion shows, runway bookings, music adverts and commercial bookings Are there any physical attributes (eg. height, size, look etc) you look for in prospective models? We feel there is a market for most looks. There are some agencies that specify minimum height restrictions but we have models carrying out paid assignments for magazines that are 5"3 - so I'd say the first thing we look for is a great face! What do you require in terms of attitude from a model? Attitude is a good question, no matter how good you may look, a poor attitude will never get you many bookings. An agent simply wouldn't send a model who has an unprofessional attitude to a casting for one of our major clients as her attitude would reflect on the agency. We always advise our models; "be on time, work with the other artists around you from photographers to makeup artists to other models. This is a small world and everyone knows everyone, don't have a reputation for being a primadona, the model with the right attitude will always be booked again" How should a model prepare before a photoshoot? Sleep well starting three days before your shoot. Hydrate well, drink lots of water, this is great for the skin, avoid alcohol as this makes your eyes red (not a good look). Eat well, five portions of fruit and vegetables every day is a must. Be on time for the shoot, ensure plenty of time getting to the location so you don't arrive stressed out How often do you scout for models? We never scout, we invite models to call us and come into the agency. We get many calls during the week, we don't feel it necessary to go out scouting What advice would you give to someone before approaching the agency? Research the agency, look who their clients are, if you are a fashion model make sure there a fashion agent, if glamour see if the agency has a glamour section. If you are asked to go to an agency casting ensure you're on time, have your book of photos, don't over dress and most importantly JUST BE YOU!! It's your looks aswell as personality they are taking on in their books so be yourself, with a good measure of confidence too
Many thanks Robert!
